Spirulina Granola

Registered Dietitian Carly Knowles created this Spirulina Granola recipe as the perfect “gateway” recipe to welcome you into the algae-seaweed-loving family! Spirulina is a popular green superfood that is available in a powder form for easy use in recipes. It’s subtly sweetened with honey and includes protein and healthy fats from the nuts and seeds to keep your energy up and blood sugar balanced. It tastes great on top of full-fat yogurt, served with seasonal fruit or eaten by the handful!

Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the oats, almonds, coconut, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, spirulina, and salt. Add the honey and almond oil and mix well breaking up any clumps with a clean pair of hands.
  3. Divide the granola mixture onto two baking sheets and spread evenly. Bake for 20-24 minutes until lightly golden, stirring halfway and alternating the pans for even baking.
  4. Let the granola cool completely before storing in an airtight container(s) for 1-2 weeks.
