B-12 10,000 mcg Energy Boost - Pharmacokinetic (pK) Study
Bioavailability Study
Vitamin B-12 (cobalamin) is an essential nutrient required for the maintenance of a healthy nervous system, DNA synthesis, and other metabolic functions.*
Three healthy adult volunteers 48 to 60 years old participated in a clinical trial to study the bioavailability of B-12 10,000 mcg Energy Boost, a liquid dietary supplement from NOW® (item # 0453).
Serum cobalamin levels were measured at baseline, and 1, 3, 7 and 24 hours following oral administration of single vial of B-12 10,000 mcg Energy Boost.
Results
Average serum level of cobalamin increased rapidly and peaked one hour after ingestion, reaching 188% of the baseline level. The average cobalamin concentration remained elevated 24 hours post- supplementation, 70% over the baseline concentrations. This study confirms the exceptional bioavailability of vitamin B-12 from NOW®’s Liquid B-12 10,000 mcg Energy Boost.
