MK-7 Vitamin K-2 100 mcg - Pharmacokinetic (pK) Study

Bioavailability Study

MK-7 is a form of vitamin K-2 that plays a role in the synthesis of blood coagulation factors, bone health, and the maintenance of vascular elasticity.* Three healthy adult volunteers 28 to 52 years old participated in a clinical trial to study the bioavailability of MK-7, a dietary supplement from NOW® (item # 0992). Plasma vitamin K was measured at baseline, and again at 4, 6 and 24 hours following oral administration of one capsule providing 100 mcg of NOW® MK-7.

Results

Average vitamin K increased four hours after administration, and peaked six hours following administration, reaching 41% above the baseline level. Average vitamin K concentration returned to near-baseline level 24 hours post-supplementation. This study confirms the exceptional bioavailability of NOW® MK-7.
