Hi! I’m Chantae

I’ve been a track and field athlete for 22 years.  After graduating from Rolla High School in Missouri, I went on to compete collegiately at the University of Nebraska on a track and field scholarship. This is where I learned and started competing in the heptathlon. The heptathlon is seven events that are over a two-day period. Day 1 consists of the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, and 200m dash. While day 2 has the long jump, javelin, and the 800m run.

After progressively getting better each year, I decided to continue my career as a professional track and field athlete. In 2011, right after graduating college, I blew out my patellar tendon while competing in the high jump. I ended up in rehab for six months, where I truly learned what being disciplined to reach a goal looked like.

In the Summer of 2012, 9 months after the injury, I made the hardest team to make, the United States Olympic team.

After training for 10 years as a heptathlete, I decided to solely focus on throwing the javelin. At the 2021 Olympic Trials, I placed 8th in the javelin and knew I still had more to give. I’m currently training for one more year with the goal of making the Paris 2024 Olympic team. This is no small task as an underdog in the event, but the plan is to expend all abilities over the next year in training and be proud of the moment and outcome.

After my track and field career is over, I will look to book more speaking events, host track and field camps, host motivational retreats, write and illustrate a children’s book, and work to help women and children through her non-profit. Along with creating a homestead for my family – my husband, Devon, a US Army helicopter pilot, and our two children, Otto and Ellis.
