I’m Laura
I'm an active leader in the fitness industry for over 25 years, with a mission to inspire JOY by EMPOWERING women with a mindset shift on their FITNESS journey to become WISELY FIERCE in life.
My love of fitness began early in life when in my childhood years, I was an elite-level gymnast training about 5-6 hours a day. I earned a full-ride gymnastics scholarship to Michigan State University. In college, I was also introduced to sport-specific weight training. This was really what struck my interest in weight training, and more specifically, for my sport. I completed my Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science and continued my love and education of weight training by earning one of the most prestigious certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). I began one of the first “at home” training businesses in the Lansing area, working with television personalities, athletes, and moms.
I was awarded a full scholarship for graduate school at Michigan State University as a graduate assistant, teaching the health and wellness courses to the undergrad students. There I completed my Master's Degree in Exercise Science, and shortly thereafter, moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and begin my competitive fitness career – right after I performed in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the 1996 Summer Olympics.
I won my IFBB Fitness Pro card in one year (a relatively short period of time) by winning the 1998 NPC Nationals in Atlanta. This type of physique training was a whole new type of weight training that followed an extremely calculated nutrition and supplement program. I competed all over the world and retired ranking top 10 Internationally. I competed in over 23 professional shows, and am still well known for my innovative and entertaining fitness routines. I was a stand-out and quite memorable in multiple Arnold Classic/Fitness International and Fitness Olympia competitions. I’ve graced the covers of over 15 fitness magazines and have been featured in numerous articles as an athlete or contributing writer.
After eight years in the south, I moved to Los Angeles, where I was able to build up a clientele of professional entrepreneurs and stay-at-home moms. I was now finished with competing and began a more “lifestyle-friendly” eating and exercise practice. I also started my own journey to grow my family, so my training intensity lessened and my yoga practice increased.
After 13 years in Los Angeles, my family and I are now settled into the Pacific Northwest. While I miss the daily sunshine and the easy outdoor lifestyle, I’ve learned I won’t melt in the rain, the people are refreshingly nice, and health and fitness are very important to the residents in greater Seattle. I work with a few home clients, corporate yoga clients, hosts yoga retreats, “Pop Up” classes throughout the city, and an online clientele. I am an Intelliroll Master Trainer, Athleta Brand Ambassador, and have begun teaching yoga abroad with FitBodies, Inc.

FAVORITE RECIPE
Protein Balls (as seen on City Lifestyle, Seattle)
Ingredients:
1½ cup Rolled Oats, Organic
1 cup Cashew Butter
2 tablespoons Organic Hemp Seed Hearts
1 tablespoon Organic Chia Seeds
¼ cup Manuka Honey or Organic Agave Nectar
Njoy Chocolate Chips
3-5 drops Better Stevia Chai Spice
Directions
- Place oats, both nut butters, honey, protein powder, hemp seeds, chia seeds, Stevia Chai Spice, and chocolate chips into a large bowl and stir to combine.
- The mixture may be a bit tough to combine if you use other nut butters. If it feels too soft you may try adding 1 tablespoon more of the chia seeds. Use your hands to knead the dough, and that seems to blend it together well.
- Once you combined the ingredients use your hands or a small cookie scoop to scoop out and form the dough. Roll it into about one-inch size balls.
- Store in a covered container in the fridge or freezer.
