Hi! I’m Josh Kerr,

I was born in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland on October 8th, 1997. I lived out all of my high school days in Scotland with my parents and brother, Jake, who is now a professional rugby player for the Leicester Tigers. In 2015 and at the age of 17, I was recruited to run track and cross country at The University of New Mexico. Without ever having visited New Mexico or even the U.S. for that matter, I packed my belongings and signed my Letter of Intent for the next four years.

New Mexico quickly became home, and after a year of running with my new team, I was able to claim the NCAA Mile title at the Indoor Championships in 2017. This set the tone and expectations for the rest of my collegiate career, where I went on to win two more NCAA Mile titles and set the 1500m Collegiate record in 2018.

At this point in my career, I made the decision to turn professional early. I was approached by Danny Mackey, a coach that I trusted and was excited to work with. I felt confident that signing with Brooks and training with the Beasts was the best next move in heightening my career. In my first year as a professional, I was able to finish 6th at the 2019 World Championships in Doha. I won Bronze at the Tokyo Summer Games, my first time as an Olympian, where I ran my personal best time. Since then I clinched the 2023 Outdoor World Champion title in the 1500 meter, and also the 2024 World Indoor Champion title in the 3000m. I also broke the Indoor 2-Mile World Record at the 2024 Millrose Games, clocking in at 8:00.67.
