Biotin 5000 mcg - Pharmacokinetic (pK) Study

Bioavailability Study

Dietary supplement Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin necessary for normal growth and body function, and as a key regulatory element in gluconeogenesis, fatty acid synthesis, and in the metabolism of some amino acids.* Three healthy adult volunteers 25-55 years old participated in a clinical trial to study the bioavailability of Biotin, a dietary supplement by NOW® Foods (# 0471). Serum biotin was measured at baseline, and 2, 4, and 24 hours following oral administration of 1 capsule providing 5,000 mcg of Biotin.

Results

The average serum biotin peaked 2 hours following the administration, reaching 625% above the baseline level. The average biotin concentration remained elevated for the duration of the study and remained 187% above the baseline levels 24 hours post-supplementation. The study confirms the exceptional bioavailability of the dietary supplement Biotin by NOW®.
